About You You will have extensive experience managing in-house payroll and multiple HR systems, alongside strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and payroll controls. You will be confident producing management information and leading continuous improvement initiatives, with previous experience managing a small team. Experience with IRIS Cascade and CIPP membership (or equivalent experience) would be highly advantageous, while charity sector experience would be beneficial. About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced People Systems and Payroll Manager to lead the organisation's payroll operation, people systems and HR administration function. Managing a small team of two, you will ensure payroll is delivered accurately and on time, oversee key HR systems, provide meaningful workforce reporting and drive improvements that enhance both employee and manager experience. Duties will include: • Leading and developing the People Systems and Payroll team through regular coaching, support and performance management. • Taking ownership of the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate monthly processing and statutory submissions. • Maintaining and developing HR systems to maximise efficiency, self-service functionality and data integrity. • Managing employee lifecycle administration, ensuring all contractual changes and records are maintained accurately. • Working closely with Finance to support reconciliations, compliance requirements, audits and payroll accounting. • Administering the organisation's pension arrangements and liaising with external payroll and benefits providers. • Coordinating annual salary reviews and supporting wider pay benchmarking exercises. • Producing payroll and people management information, dashboards and KPI reporting to support informed business decisions. • Delivering workforce insights across recruitment, learning and development, diversity and other people initiatives. • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve system integration across the People function. • Providing expert guidance on payroll legislation, compliance, HMRC requirements and HR systems. • Supporting wider People projects through technical expertise, reporting and system configuration. • Assisting with Data Subject Access Requests by working collaboratively across People, Legal and Data teams. • Acting as a professional ambassador for the organisation while delivering an excellent internal customer experience.
