Job description
TO provide senior technical support within the pharmacy team by
deputising for Specialist Technicians when required, assisting with the
coordination of specialist activities and ensuring appropriate cover
arrangements are maintained during periods of absence.
TO oversee the allocation and completion of
delegated tasks among Pharmacy Technicians, Student Technicians, and Pharmacy
Assistants, providing guidance and monitoring adherence to departmental
procedures, documentation requirements, and competency standards.
TO carry out the preparation of sterile and
non-sterile medicinal products, including chemotherapy and parenteral
nutrition, by following approved procedures, completing accurate calculations,
and applying required technical skills within controlled working environments.
TO assist clinical pharmacy teams with medicines
optimisation processes by contributing to medication history taking, discharge
preparation, patient counselling support, and communication with healthcare
professionals involved in ongoing patient care.
TO undertake the dispensing and management of
complex medication supplies, including controlled drugs, clinical trial
medicines, specialist medicines, and other regulated products, ensuring
accurate records and compliance with relevant procedures.
TO contribute to pharmacy service development by supporting training
activities, identifying opportunities for improving working practices,
promoting efficient use of resources, and participating in quality and safety
initiatives.
