Job description
Planning & Development Manager
South West London
£70,000 – £85,000
Our client is a well-established developer with a 60-strong team, delivering some of the most ambitious regeneration projects in Nine Elms.
The Projects
• A major mixed-use residential scheme, recently completed — still generating live workstreams (snagging, aftercare, and planning matters that follow a scheme through to close-out)
• A large predominantly residential development with ground-floor commercial and a small office element
The Role This is a planning-first seat, not a commercial/appraisal one — viability sits elsewhere in the business, so if that's the part of the job you want, this probably isn't it. What you will own:
• Devising and executing planning & development strategy across both schemes
• Briefing, appointing and managing external consultants, with review authority before Director sign-off
• Managing external appointments, budgets and internal reporting
• Being the person who lives and breathes these two projects — every facet of planning and development delivery runs through you
What You'll Bring
• Circa 5 years PQE in land & planning — this is the sweet spot, not a minimum to clear
• MRTPI and/or MRICS — genuinely required, not a nice-to-have
• Proven experience delivering complex, high-density residential or mixed-use projects (doesn't have to be London, but it does have to be high-density)
• Borough-specific experience (e.g. Wandsworth, Lambeth) is a bonus, not a must
• The temperament for depth over breadth — this role suits someone who wants to properly embed in a scheme, not someone from a high-volume housebuilder background used to running many projects at pace
• Strong attention to detail, numeracy, and advanced Excel skills
• A collaborative, culturally-engaged approach — technical fit alone won't cut it here; this team cares about how you work with people, not just what you know
