Job description

Alexandra Surgery is a relatively small, friendly and well-managed surgery in the heart of Wimbledon town - a stone's throw from the train station, tram and shops - but if you prefer to drive, there is parking. You will only be our second practice manager in 34 years and will join a close-knit surgery who try our uttermost to serve our patients and the community, and provide an excellent level of medical care in a safe and friendly environment where patients and staff are treated and valued with respect and understanding. You only have to ask our patients - some of whom have been with us for over forty years. You will be responsible for the smooth daily operational running of the surgery. You will support the GP partners in the development and delivery of the practice's strategic objectives and the delivery of the quality care framework targets and local incentive schemes. You will maintain and update practice policy. You will manage patient complaints - although, thankfully, we have very few. You will manage the accounts and liaise with our external accountants. You will manage external suppliers and service contracts. HR: you will manage staff recruitment, induction, payroll, formation and retention. You will oversee the management of the premises to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for patients and staff. You will contribute to, and implement PCN initiatives. Hours are 37.5 per week. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A SURGERY-BASED ROLE AND YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO WORK FROM HOME. We are very happy to consider compressed hours to fit around your lifestyle, but you should plan to attend the surgery on no fewer than 4 days a week. You will benefit from a generous holiday package of 6 weeks plus statutory bank holidays. We will ensure that you have a full and comprehensive hand-over period. Please send your CV and a covering letter to before the advertised deadline of 31/07/26. Regrettably, we will not consider applications via the Betajobs website. Please outline in the letter why you are attracted to the role at Alexandra Surgery; why you believe yourself to be a good fit; and why you are looking to change jobs, or why your left your previous role if applicable. PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY.
