Job description
The main duties include but are not limited to:
Administering vaccinations and immunisations in line with national and practice guidelines
Cervical cytology
Managing and monitoring patients with chronic diseases (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension) in line with national and local
guidelines
Carrying out home visits for housebound patients
Supporting the clinical team in the management of the care
homes
Ensuring accurate and timely clinical record keeping and documentation
Conducting contraception reviews and coil checks
Carrying new patient and NHS health checks
Wound care and management including dressing, removal of sutures and clips
Participating in infection control, cold chain maintenance, ensuring fridge temperatures are regularly monitored and maintained
Supporting patients with lifestyle advice and self-care
management
Advising patients on health care, minor ailments, health
promotion, and illness prevention
Contributing to achievement of QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) and local enhanced services achievement and clinical audits
Preparing and maintaining clinical rooms and equipment before,
during and after patient care activities, ensuring a clean and safe
environment
Ensuring emergency medication and resuscitation equipment is adequately stocked and
fit for purpose
Ensuring proper handling and dispatch of laboratory specimens including blood and urine samples
Participating in practice meetings and contributing to our aim
for continuous improvement
Supporting the training and mentoring of junior staff members and HCAs
