We are seeking a reliable and organised Prescription and Medicines Monitoring Administrator to support the safe and effective management of repeat prescribing within the practice. The role involves processing repeat prescription requests, assisting with medicines monitoring, and ensuring patients receive appropriate reviews and monitoring before medications are issued.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Process patient requests for repeat prescriptions received electronically, in writing or verbally.
• Prepare prescriptions for GP authorisation.
• Accurately update and maintain patient records relating to prescription issues.
• Refer incomplete or inappropriate prescription requests to the relevant GP.
• Act as a point of contact for patient enquiries relating to repeat prescriptions.
• Liaise with patients regarding prescription queries and expected delays.
• Monitor uncollected prescriptions and highlight concerns to clinicians.
• Support medication review processes and ensure reviews are booked when due.
• Monitor compliance with the Practice Repeat Prescription Policy.
• Check that required blood tests, blood pressure readings and other monitoring have been completed before medication is issued.
• Undertake high-risk drug monitoring audits and shared care agreement monitoring audits.
• Contact patients regarding outstanding monitoring requirements.
• Maintain monitoring spreadsheets and ensure non-compliance processes are followed.
• Work closely with clinicians and colleagues to support safe prescribing and excellent patient care.
Additional InformationThe postholder will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality, comply with practice policies and procedures, contribute to service development and quality improvement, and undertake training relevant to the role. Duties may be amended from time to time to meet the needs of the practice.
