Job description

Principal Geotechnical Engineer Reading £50,000 - £60,000 An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy based in Reading. This role is suited to a technically strong engineer looking to take the lead on a varied portfolio of geotechnical projects while mentoring junior staff and supporting the continued growth of the team. Working across infrastructure, commercial, residential and energy developments, you will be responsible for delivering projects from initial ground investigation through to detailed geotechnical design and reporting. The role: • Leading and managing geotechnical projects from tender stage through to completion • Planning, specifying and supervising ground investigations • Producing and reviewing geotechnical interpretative reports and foundation recommendations • Undertaking geotechnical analysis including foundations, retaining structures, earthworks and slope stability • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to graduate and intermediate engineers • Liaising directly with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams • Preparing fee proposals and supporting business development activities • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high technical standard Requirements: • Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline • Chartered status, or working towards Chartership • Strong background in geotechnical design and ground investigations • Experience managing projects and maintaining client relationships • Excellent technical reporting and communication skills • Full UK driving licence Benefits: • Competitive salary • Annual bonus • Hybrid working • Generous annual leave with the option to purchase additional days • Company pension scheme • Private healthcare • Professional membership fees paid • Ongoing CPD and support with further career progression This is an excellent opportunity for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer looking to take on a leadership role within a collaborative consultancy, delivering technically challenging projects while helping to shape the future of a growing geotechnical team.
