Job description

Reed Talent Solutions are working with United Utilities on the search for a Process Operator Are you committed to making a difference in environmental sustainability? Do you have a keen eye for detail and a passion for operational efficiency? We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated Process Operator to join United Utilities team at the Wastewater Treatment Works in Macclesfield. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the wastewater treatment processes run smoothly and effectively, safeguarding the environment and the health of our communities Details: • Client: United Utilities • Pay Rate: £16.78 per hour PAYE • Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30–15:30 Overtime available at time and a half or double time • Location: Macclesfield WWTW • Contract: until 07.2027, with potential to become permanent Key Responsibilities: • Operate and monitor Wastewater Treatment assets to meet regulatory and customer service standards. • Undertake sampling, readings, analysis, and cleaning activities (UWWTD, MCERTS). • Record and report operational performance data accurately and on time. • Identify poor performance and implement corrective actions within Health & Safety guidelines. • Escalate performance or regulatory risks to the Process Controller. • Complete scheduled operational and maintenance tasks, including reactive work orders. • Maintain technical competence to support local performance improvements. • Collaborate with Integrated Planning Teams and Field Service Engineers. • Use corporate systems to record work orders and process data. • Respond to asset failures and take appropriate corrective actions. • Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations and internal policies. Essential Requirements: • Valid UK driving licence. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Resilient, self-motivated, and technically competent. • Basic computer literacy (e.g., data entry, email communication). • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions. • Physically fit and able to perform demanding tasks in challenging environments. • Good communication skills and a proactive attitude. Desirable Skills & Experience: • Practical experience in an operational or industrial environment. • Knowledge of Wastewater Treatment processes and assets. • Understanding of environmental output standards and compliance procedures.
