Procurement BuyerLocation: Crediton, Devon (with support for our Birdham, West Sussex site)
We're looking for a commercially minded Procurement Buyer to join our growing manufacturing business, supporting procurement across Montezuma's premium chocolate and Bristows of Devon traditional confectionery. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of procurement across two production sites, ensuring materials are available when needed, building strong supplier partnerships, and driving cost savings that make a real business impact.
Working closely with Production, Planning, Technical, NPD, Finance and Senior Management, you'll play a key role in sourcing the raw materials, packaging and operational supplies that keep our much-loved brands moving.
What you'll be doing
• Manage purchasing of raw materials, packaging and operational supplies across both manufacturing sites.
• Ensure continuity of supply while achieving the best value for the business.
• Build and develop strong supplier relationships, monitoring performance and negotiating improved pricing and service.
• Work with Planning to maintain lean stock levels without compromising production.
• Place and manage purchase orders, proactively resolving supply issues and expediting deliveries.
• Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities through effective sourcing and negotiation.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records using Sage 200 (or similar ERP systems).
• Support supplier approvals, audits and compliance alongside the Technical team.
• Produce procurement KPIs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support New Product Development projects from a procurement perspective.
What we're looking forEssential
• Previous experience in a Procurement, Purchasing or Buyer role.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with the ability to build lasting supplier relationships.
• Experience using Sage 200 or a similar ERP system.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
Desirable
• Experience within food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of supplier approval processes and quality management systems.
