Product Quality Engineer - LincolnThe OpportunityAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Quality Engineer to join a fast-growing business supplying the furniture sector with market leading products. This is a newly created role responsible for maintaining and improving the technical quality of the company's product portfolio. Working across product quality, supplier quality and new product development, you will ensure products meet the required standards from initial design through to manufacture and customer use. You will play a key role in reviewing product specifications, resolving quality issues, managing supplier corrective actions and supporting the development of new products. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with physical products, solving technical problems and improving processes. Working closely with Procurement, NPD, Sales and Operations, you will become a key technical point of contact, helping to protect product quality and drive continuous improvement. Key ResponsibilitiesNew Product Development Support • Review technical drawings and CAD files to identify potential design, manufacturing or quality risks. • Assess product designs for manufacturability and suitability before supplier release. • Support the approval process for prototypes, samples and pre-production units. • Conduct product inspections, checking dimensions, fit, functionality, finish and compliance against specifications. • Support product testing activities, including external testing programmes where required. • Develop and maintain quality standards and inspection criteria for new products. Product Quality & Continuous Improvement • Own the investigation and resolution of product quality issues across the product portfolio. • Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented effectively. • Lead supplier corrective action processes, ensuring issues are properly investigated, resolved and closed out. • Work closely with suppliers to improve product quality, reliability and consistency. • Maintain accurate technical documentation, specifications and product records. • Identify opportunities for quality improvements across existing products and processes. Supplier & Technical Support • Act as the internal technical authority for the product portfolio • Provide technical guidance to internal teams including Sales, Customer Service and Operations. • Liaise directly with suppliers and customers on technical issues and product requirements. • Support supplier reviews by providing technical insight and quality performance feedback. • Carry out competitor product analysis to support product improvements and commercial decisions. • Maintain awareness of relevant product standards, testing requirements and industry developments. About YouWe're looking for a technically minded engineer with experience in product quality, supplier quality or product development environments. You will ideally have experience working with engineered products, components or manufactured goods, with the ability to understand technical drawings, investigate issues and drive improvements. You'll have: • Experience managing product quality issues, NCRs and corrective actions. • Experience working with suppliers to resolve technical and quality problems. • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. • Strong problem-solving skills with experience using root cause analysis techniques. • Experience supporting product development, validation or approval processes. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders. • A structured and methodical approach with strong attention to detail.
