Product Safety & Compliance Specialist Industry: Ecommerce & Consumer Products Location: York (On-site) Job Type: Full-time Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 The Opportunity An established and fast-growing ecommerce business within the consumer products sector is seeking a Product Safety & Compliance Specialist to take ownership of UK and EU product compliance across a diverse and expanding product portfolio. This is a hands-on role offering real influence, working closely with Buying, Product, and Operations teams to ensure products are safe, compliant, and ready for market. You will also play a key role in strengthening and improving compliance processes as the business continues to scale. Key Responsibilities • Take full ownership of product compliance across UK and EU markets • Interpret and apply relevant regulations, including: • UKCA / CE marking requirements • GPSR, EMC, LVD, RoHS, REACH • Prepare, review, and maintain: • Technical Documentation • Declarations of Conformity • Assess supplier documentation and laboratory test reports, identifying gaps and recommending further testing where required • Ensure all labelling, safety warnings, and user instructions meet regulatory standards • Liaise directly with suppliers to obtain and validate compliance documentation • Work cross-functionally with Buying and Product teams to embed compliance early in the product lifecycle • Support responses to regulatory and marketplace compliance enquiries • Maintain accurate compliance records and contribute to continuous process improvement Skills & Experience Required • Experience in product compliance, product safety, quality assurance, or regulatory affairs within consumer goods or related industries • Strong knowledge of UKCA and CE marking requirements • Proven experience working with: • Technical Files • Declarations of Conformity • Supplier compliance documentation • Experience reviewing test reports and identifying compliance risks • Confident in engaging with and challenging suppliers when required • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills • Ability to manage multiple product categories and competing priorities • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Proactive and solution-oriented mindset Working Arrangements • Full-time position (37.5 hours per week) • Flexible start times between 08:00 – 09:30, with corresponding finish times • Based on-site in York (5 days per week) • Due to location, own transport is essential Benefits • Private medical insurance and employee assistance programme • Life insurance and income protection • Enhanced annual leave + bank holidays • Additional leave for long service • Enhanced family leave policies • Flexitime and work-life balance initiatives • Cycle to work scheme • Employee discounts and wellbeing support • Free parking and regular company social events About the Business This organisation operates within the ecommerce and retail sector, supplying a broad portfolio of consumer products across home, lifestyle, and seasonal categories.
