Production Manager

Production Manager Location: Portsmouth Sector: Manufacturing / Operations Salary: £45,000 - £48,000 About the Opportunity We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing business looking to appoint a hands-on Production Manager to lead day-to-day operations on site. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced leader who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is passionate about driving efficiency, developing teams, and delivering operational excellence. The Role As Production Manager, you'll take ownership of the full production process, ensuring that manufacturing plans are executed efficiently and customer expectations are consistently met. You'll play a key role in driving performance, improving processes, and fostering a high-performing, flexible production team. Key Responsibilities • Lead, motivate and manage the production team to achieve daily targets • Deliver the production plan in line with business and customer requirements • Ensure all orders are completed on time, meeting targets • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce costs • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety and 5S across the production environment • Monitor productivity, efficiency, and quality performance • Develop a multi-skilled, flexible workforce through training and coaching • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure smooth operations • Ensure accurate system updates and stock control of finished goods What We're Looking For Essential • Proven experience managing a fast-paced production or manufacturing operation • A hands-on, proactive leadership style • Strong planning and organisational skills • Excellent communication skills • Management qualification (or equivalent experience) • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office • A positive, can-do attitude with a focus on results Desirable • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles • Knowledge of 5S methodology Why Apply? • Opportunity to join a growing, forward-thinking business • Autonomy to make a real impact on production performance • A varied, fast-paced role with genuine scope for improvement initiatives • Supportive leadership team and collaborative environment Interested?
