Job description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Project Director to lead the successful delivery of a portfolio of strategic, high-value, low-volume projects. This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all internal project activity, ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, on time, and to the highest quality standards. The Project Director will provide leadership across the project function, managing and developing a team of Project Managers and delivery professionals while acting as the key link between senior stakeholders, operational teams, and executive leadership. The successful candidate will bring strong project governance, commercial acumen, and people leadership experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects within demanding environments. Roles & Responsibilities • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of all internal projects across the business. • Manage a portfolio of high-value, strategically important projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives. • Establish and maintain project governance frameworks, methodologies, and reporting structures. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery processes. • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Project Managers and project delivery professionals. • Set clear performance objectives and provide ongoing coaching and support. • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance. • Support succession planning and talent development within the project function. • Conduct regular performance reviews and development planning. • Act as the senior point of contact for project-related matters. • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, senior leadership teams, and operational departments. • Maintain oversight of project budgets, profitability, and financial performance. • Significant experience operating at Project Director, Head of Projects, Programme Director, or Senior Project Management level. • Proven track record of delivering high-value, complex projects from initiation through to completion. • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects within a low-volume, high-value environment. • Demonstrable experience leading and developing project teams. • Strong commercial awareness with responsibility for project budgets, profitability, and financial reporting. • Experience implementing project governance and delivery frameworks. • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior leadership level.
