You'll work closely with engineering, sales and supply chain teams to produce competitive bids while contributing to innovative technical solutions. The Role As a Proposals Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing accurate, compliant and commercially competitive proposals from initial enquiry through to tender submission. You'll analyse customer requirements, prepare technical solutions and cost estimates, and support the full bid process while working closely with internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities • Analyse customer requirements and develop cost-effective technical solutions. • Prepare high-quality technical and commercial tender submissions. • Produce conceptual designs including control systems, PLC/SCADA architectures, networks and infrastructure. • Develop accurate cost estimates, Bills of Materials (BoMs) and engineering hour estimates. • Work closely with engineering, sales and supply chain teams throughout the tender process. • Support tender reviews, risk assessments and internal bid meetings. • Manage multiple proposals simultaneously while meeting submission deadlines. • Contribute to the continuous improvement of proposal and estimating processes. What We're Looking For • Background in Controls, Electrical, Automation or Safety Systems Engineering. • Experience within proposals, estimating, tendering or technical sales is advantageous. • Good understanding of the engineering project lifecycle. • Experience interpreting technical specifications and defining project scope. • Knowledge of PLC hardware, control panels and automation system architecture. • Commercial awareness with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent written communication and technical documentation skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments. • Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Control, Automation or a related engineering discipline. Desirable Experience • Functional Safety knowledge including SIL, ESD or Fire & Gas systems. • Experience producing Bills of Materials and engineering cost estimates. • Previous experience within industrial automation, process control or systems integration. • Experience working within highly regulated industries.
