Quality Engineer

Location: Melksham – permanent role based onsite Purpose of Position Reporting to the Electronics Value Stream Manager, this Quality Engineering position will be primarily responsible for the quality management of underwater production. The successful candidate will identify and implement improvements that drive enhanced quality, safety, delivery performance, inventory control and productivity across the value stream. The role will support existing and future products, supply chain development and operational improvements, while playing a pivotal role in strengthening in-process quality and supporting the continued growth of the Electronics Value Stream. The role would suit a hands-on, practical engineer, who is able to work across a multi-skilled team. Key Responsibilities • Manage and drive process improvement/CI activities (Kaizen). • To be able to review and audit a process and its controls to identify areas for improvement, implement updates and ensure processes are made robust through Quality documentation controls (Best practice, SOP’s/Control Plans etc). • Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 5 Whys and 8D. • Support the identification and reduction of safety, quality and delivery risks through the application of FMEAs and Control Plans. • Monitor and collate KPI metrics and OKR data and action accordingly for CI within the value stream. • To co-ordinate the build of pre-production parts with the planning and production teams. • Carry out specific projects as and when requested, and actively promote, run and involved in Kaizens. • Management of the customer experience with regards to quality concerns and problem solving (CAPA). • Fulfil operational requirements as set out by the Value Stream and Quality Manager. • Ensure that all work undertaken complies with Health & Safety and best practice. • Support APQP/NPI projects and activities using lean manufacturing best practices. Background and Skills • Experience within an electronics manufacturing environment or knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 standards would be advantageous. • Six Sigma and/or Statistical Process Control training and practical application experience. • Trained in and proficient in disciplined problem-solving techniques. • Manufacturing processes knowledge. • Lean Manufacturing knowledge. • CI practitioner. • Computer literate. • Ensure the change control process is utilised and managed effectively. Required Training • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline such as Quality, Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (desirable). • Min 2-3 years in a Quality Engineering or Manufacturing environment. • Proven record in CI / Kaizen and Lean principles Grade 5 Bonus up to 10% Pension Matched to 7.5% X6 death benefit Medicash medical Share incentive plan option
