Quality Engineer

A reputable and long-established machining company in Redditch is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team. This permanent role offers competitive pay and overtime opportunities. The successful candidate for the role of Quality Engineer will be the site expert in PC-DMIS programming, while also supporting standard quality engineering functions. Duties and responsibilities of Quality Engineer: • Program and operate CMM machines using PC-DMIS – essential • Produce dimensional inspection reports against engineering drawings and CAD data • Perform precision inspection using shadow graphs, Verniers and Romer arms • Work to exceptionally tight tolerances and conduct in-process measurements • Support APQP and PPAP deliverables (PFMEA, Control Plans, trial builds) • Manage customer complaints using structured problem-solving (8D, root cause, CAPA) • Liaise directly with customers' engineering teams, toolmakers, and suppliers • Design and specify inspection gauges and fixtures • Create tool trial reports and quality feedback following trials • Complete feasibility studies for new tooling and process routes • Create and maintain SOPs and work instructions (including injection moulding, chrome plating and re-work instructions) Skills/attributes required by successful candidate for the role of Quality Engineer: • Proven experience programming and running CMMs using PC-DMIS –essential • Previous experience in a QC/Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment • Working knowledge of APQP (Control Plans, FMEA, PFMEA, and Process Flow documentation) • Experience with Romer arm scanning (or similar portable CMM/scan arms) • Structured problem-solving experience, including 8D complaint handling • Attention to detail with a "right first time" mindset • Be adaptable and willing to go the extra mile to meet tight deadlines Location: Redditch, Worcestershire Hours of Work: Day shifts with early Friday finish Salary: Up to £40,000 p.a. dependent upon experience Benefits: Workplace Pension Scheme, Onsite Parking, Flexible Working Hours on Days Contract: Permanent If you have the skills to fulfil the role of Quality Engineer, please APPLY TODAY!
