Job description

Quality Manager We are recruiting a Quality Manager for our reputable precision engineering client on a permanent basis. Salary: Excellent rates of pay, dependent on experience and ability Hours: 39 hours per week, half day Friday Role: Quality Manager About Our Client: A well-established precision engineering business operating to demanding aerospace and engineering quality standards. They are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the quality function, maintain the company’s Quality Management System and ensure all work meets the required customer, regulatory and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: • Manage the quality and inspection cell, undertaking inspection duties during peak periods and holidays where required to ensure work is completed on time. • Ensure all work leaving the company meets customer requirements and applicable AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards. • Maintain the company’s AS9100 and ISO 9001 approvals through the effective management of its Quality Management System. • Develop and implement an internal audit programme to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards and evaluate working practices. • Take ownership of all QMS documentation, ensuring it is reviewed at the required frequency, maintained to the appropriate standard and updated where necessary. • Manage quality non-conformances arising from internal and external audits, customer complaints and the receipt of non-conforming products. • Promote continuous improvement across the business, working with internal teams to share best practice and provide audit support. • Act as the primary customer contact for all quality-related matters. • Provide leadership and direction to keep employees within the function engaged, focused and developing to their full potential. • Contribute positively to health and safety standards across the site. • Manage the company tooling register and ensure measuring equipment is calibrated when due. • Requirements: • Previous experience as a Quality Manager within the aerospace industry, working to AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards. • Strong knowledge of quality assurance, external standards and internal auditing. • Proven experience leading aerospace or engineering compliance audits. • Solid problem-solving expertise, including Lean Six Sigma and other quality techniques used to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions. • Significant technical knowledge and a strong understanding of relevant quality standards and processes. • Experience managing people and providing leadership within a quality function. • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with a methodical and logical approach. • Strong communication, diplomacy and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders at all levels. Desirable: • Experience within a machining or production environment. • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, geometric tolerances, revisions, symbols and layouts. • Experience using MRP and ERP systems. What's Offered: • Excellent rates of pay based on previous experience and ability. • A 39-hour working week with a half-day finish every Friday. • A mileage subsidy to assist with travel to and from work. • Access to the company salary sacrifice pension scheme after successfully completing the three-month probationary period. • Twenty-five days’ annual holiday, excluding bank holidays, with a company shutdown over the Christmas and New Year period.
