Job Title: Practice Receptionist with
administration
Main purpose
of post:
To provide a point of contact for patients
To provide a point of communication
between patients, doctors and other staff.
To provide administration support and services to all members of
the practice team.
Responsible
to:
Admin Supervisor
Practice Manager
Responsibilities/Tasks:
1.
To adhere to the
strict confidentiality policy
2.
General
Reception Duties
Dealing with patient notes, Docman and emails
Dealing with items placed in the post tray
To welcome patients and deal with requests
To ensure that patients without appointments but who need urgent
medical treatment are correctly advised on appropriate alternative services
To ensure the reception desk is kept neat and tidy
To receive and make calls as required. Diverting calls and taking
messages as appropriate.
To register new and temporary patients, making them aware of the
services offered at the practice.
To deal with requests for repeat prescriptions
To give out repeat prescriptions and keep a record of pharmacy
collections
To shred any confidential information
To check and record the temperature of the reception fridge each
day.

To keep up to date with system changes by
completing regular training
To attend
practice meetings
To cover for holidays and sick leave when
available
To undertake any delegated duties considered
