Job description

Duties: • Greet, receive and direct patients. • Give completed prescriptions to patients, checking the name and address. • Deal with general telephone enquiries. • Process appointment requests by patients, both in person and over the telephone. • Record messages for staff, including doctors and nurses. • Record requests for home visits and repeat prescriptions. • Extract patient files for surgeries, house calls and routine enquiries. • File paperwork in the relevant patient file. • Input patient information on computer, including under templates. • Email and photocopy as requested. • Be able to navigate correctly on Emis Web • Have a working knowledge of the telephone system, during and after hours. • Attending weekly briefings Experience required: • Ideally, previous medical reception experience • Excellent administration and communication skills • Problem solver • Strong computer literacy especially in MS applications • Ability to show patience, empathy and diplomacy when required and to be able to work under pressure.
