Job description

Main Duties The nature of the Receptionist role in General Practice is constantly changing and evolving in line with changes in the NHS and wider community so the list below is indicative only and is subject to change as the Practice and NHS circumstances change or when new technology is introduced. When required, opening, and closing the Surgery and ensuring all tasks related to this are fulfilled including the telephone system, the Surgery security system etc. Arrange appointments using the EMIS clinical system, either on the telephone or face to face. Deal with patient queries over the telephone and face to face, relating to either NHS services or private medicals and insurance report queries. Handling payments for private services as required. To undertake a range of administrative tasks (mainly computer-based) in support of patient care and maintenance of the patients electronic medical record. Deal with patient requests for registration and hand out the relevant paperwork. Receive and pass on messages for the clinical team and other staff. Ensure that all communications between patients, other professionals and the Practice team are communicated in an effective, efficient, and secure manner, using whatever means are appropriate and in line with Practice systems. Promptly report any complaints to the Practice Manager and assist in investigations where required The list above is not intended to be exhaustive. The postholder will be required to carry out any other duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time by the Practice Manager, Reception Supervisor, Doctors, Nurses, or other team members.
