Registered Nurse - Endoscopy

• To be responsible and accountable for the nursing care of designated named patients from admission to discharge. • To participate in the care, maintenance and use of endoscopes used in endoscopic and non-endoscopic procedures, providing technical assistance during procedures. • To ensure provision of a high standard of nursing care to patients attending the Endoscopy Unit, working within agreed policies and procedures. • To ensure individual assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care from admission to discharge or transfer, producing documented evidence of this in agreed format. • Correct documentation of patient care using the endoscopy unit care pathway including written discharge and aftercare information for patients. • To liaise and communicate effectively with relatives, carers and visitors. • To liaise and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, other hospital departments and outside agencies (e.g. ambulance service, social services, transport etc.) providing patient centred care. • Engage with student nurses and observers giving encouragement, support and guidance.
