Job description

Act as a preceptor to newly registered staff and on a regular basis act as a mentor and assessor for students learners on clinical placements. Take a lead responsibility for a specific function or area of knowledge/clinical skills within the team e.g. speciality focused link nurse, health promotion lead, student link nurse. Accept designated responsibilities from other team members and actively contribute to performance review and the appraisal and personal development planning (PDP) process within the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF). Clinical governance, reduction of risk, audit and research Ensure that the delivery of care to own patients and for all patients when in charge meet the standards determined by the Ward/Unit Manager and the Standards for Better Health. Adhere to Trust policies, procedures and clinical guidelines and ensure compliance of others. Promote and practice the highest standards of prevention and control of infection at all times. Continually monitor standards of nursing care and contribute to improvement of care through benchmarking, audit and research. Participate in and contribute to patient and public involvement activities. Promote patient dignity, equality, diversity and rights.
