This role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of clinical research delivery within Ophthalmology, combining hands-on patient care with study coordination and specialist assessments. You will coordinate and deliver the day-to-day activities for delegated clinical research studies, ensuring smooth implementation, accurate documentation, and adherence to study protocols. The post involves providing high-quality direct patient care to research participants, including undertaking clinical observations and procedures such as venepuncture, ECG recording, and vital sign measurements, while also performing specialised ophthalmic assessments, including imaging and visual field testing, ensuring accuracy and participant comfort throughout. You will be responsible for managing and prioritising your workload effectively while maintaining high standards of clinical governance, safety, and research compliance. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a clinical or research environment, with the ability to deliver safe, patient-focused care. You will have competence in clinical skills such as venepuncture, recording observations, and basic diagnostic procedures, or a willingness to develop these skills. Strong organisational and time management abilities are essential, along with the capacity to coordinate multiple tasks and meet study deadlines. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to support and reassure research participants while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The post may require flexibility to cover clinic schedules, including early starts or extended days depending on study requirements. Ongoing training and development opportunities will be provided to support the maintenance and enhancement of clinical and research competencies within the role.
