Job description

Clinical Responsibilities • Provide comprehensive primary medical services to registered patients. • Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses. • Undertake face-to-face, telephone and digital consultations. • Carry out home visits where clinically appropriate. • Prescribe safely and cost-effectively in accordance with national and local guidance. • Arrange and interpret appropriate investigations. • Refer patients appropriately to secondary care and community services. • Promote preventative healthcare and health education. • Manage long-term conditions in line with national guidance. • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records. • Participate in safeguarding adults and children in accordance with practice policies. • Recognise and manage medical emergencies. Team Working • Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, healthcare assistants, reception, dispensary and administrative teams. • Support colleagues in delivering safe, efficient patient care. • Participate in MDT meetings where appropriate. • Contribute to a positive, supportive and respectful working environment. Quality and Governance • Contribute to Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Enhanced Services and other contractual requirements. • Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement projects. • Contribute to significant event analysis and learning. • Support the implementation of national and local guidance. • Maintain compliance with GMC standards and appraisal requirements. • Participate in clinical governance activities. Leadership and Practice Development • Contribute to the ongoing development of practice services. • Support service redesign and innovation to improve patient care. • Assist in developing practice policies and clinical protocols where appropriate. • Promote efficient and sustainable working practices. • Support mentoring, supervision and education of learners and colleagues where appropriate. Partnership ResponsibilitiesFollowing appointment to Partnership, responsibilities may include: • Contributing to the strategic leadership of the practice. • Supporting business planning and practice development. • Participating in financial and operational decision-making. • Helping ensure the long-term sustainability of the practice. • Acting as a leader within the multidisciplinary team. • Representing the practice at Primary Care Network and external meetings where appropriate. Professional ResponsibilitiesThe post holder will: • Maintain full GMC registration and a licence to practise. • Participate in annual NHS appraisal and five-yearly revalidation. • Undertake mandatory training. • Maintain appropriate medical indemnity. • Work within GMC Good Medical Practice. • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with UK GDPR and Data Protection legislation. • Follow all practice policies relating to health and safety, infection prevention and control, safeguarding and equality, diversity and inclusion.
