Job description

Looking for a role where no two days are ever the same? If you’re the sort of person who enjoys being organised, thrives in a busy environment and secretly gets a little bit of satisfaction from a colour-coded calendar or an inbox at zero… keep reading. Thrive Education are delighted to be supporting a fantastic school in the heart of Cheltenham with the recruitment of an experienced School Administrator. This is a brilliant opportunity to join a welcoming, supportive team where you’ll quickly become an integral part of the school’s day-to-day operation. Schools simply don’t function without great administrators, and this school genuinely values the people behind the scenes who keep everything running smoothly. What will you be doing? You’ll be one of the friendly faces greeting visitors, supporting staff, parents and pupils, whilst ensuring the school’s administration runs like clockwork. Your responsibilities will include: Managing the busy school reception and answering telephone enquiries. Responding to emails and handling day-to-day administration. Maintaining pupil records and databases. Supporting attendance administration. Producing letters and school communications. Assisting with admissions and general office duties. Providing administrative support to the wider leadership team. Ensuring confidentiality and professionalism at all times. What are we looking for? We’re keen to hear from people who: Have previous school administration experience (highly desirable). Have experience using school systems such as SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom or similar (advantageous, but training can be provided for the right person). Are confident using Microsoft Office. Have excellent communication and organisational skills. Can prioritise a varied workload. Enjoy working with people and have a naturally friendly, approachable manner. Are proactive and happy to roll their sleeves up when needed. Why this school? There’s a lovely atmosphere here. The team are genuinely supportive, everyone mucks in together and you’ll be joining a school that really values its staff. It’s one of those roles where you’ll finish each day knowing you’ve made a difference—even if your biggest achievement was locating that one missing permission slip five minutes before the coach left! Why register with Thrive Education? At Thrive, recruitment is personal. We’re a Gloucestershire-based education recruitment specialist, and we pride ourselves on building genuine relationships with both our schools and our candidates. We won’t simply send your CV everywhere—we’ll take the time to understand what you’re looking for and only introduce you to opportunities that are the right fit. From your first conversation through to your first day (and beyond), we’re here to support you every step of the way. Interested? If this sounds like the opportunity you’ve been waiting for, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today or contact Gareth at Thrive Education for a confidential conversation.
