We are currently recruiting dedicated and reliable School Caretakers to work across a range of primary and secondary schools throughout the Wakefield area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker, site supervisor, facilities assistant, premises officer or maintenance professional looking for a stable, full-time role within education.

Every day is different. From carrying out maintenance tasks and health & safety checks to supporting contractors and ensuring school grounds remain presentable, you'll play a vital role in the day-to-day operation of the school.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a School Caretaker, your duties may include:
• Opening and securing school premises
• Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs
• Conducting health and safety inspections
• Ensuring buildings and grounds are clean, safe and well-maintained
• Managing heating, lighting and alarm systems
• Liaising with external contractors and service providers
• Setting up rooms and facilities for school events and activities
• Monitoring site security and reporting any issues
• Assisting with emergency maintenance requirements
• Supporting compliance with school policies and procedures
What We're Looking ForWe're keen to hear from candidates who have:
• Previous experience as a School Caretaker, Site Manager, Premises Officer, Facilities Assistant or Maintenance Operative
• Knowledge of basic building maintenance, repairs and site management
• Understanding of health and safety procedures
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• A proactive and professional approach
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently
• A genuine commitment to maintaining a safe environment for children and young people
Desirable Experience
• Experience working within a school, academy or educational setting
• Health & Safety qualifications
• Manual Handling certification
• First Aid qualification
• Experience managing contractors and compliance checks
