School Partnerships Officer Help transform children's futures while developing tomorrow's leaders. We're looking for an enthusiastic and relationship-focused School Partnerships Officer to join an award-winning youth and education charity tackling educational inequality. Every day you'll work alongside schools to help children furthest from opportunity thrive, while leading and developing a team of inspiring young Volunteer Mentors as they complete a life-changing year of service. Position: Schools Partnerships Officer (internal title: School Programme Impact Officer) School Location: HA1 2JG - 2 days school based Training Location: N1 9JP - 1 day per week (with some working from home) Salary: £30,469 per annum pro rata Hours: Part-time, 3 days per week with 1 day being a Friday; the other 2 days flexible. Working hours are 8:00-4:30, Monday to Contract: Permanent Closing Date: 14th August 2026 Interview Date: From 12th August 2026 onwards About the Role This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting young people through education by acting as the vital link between partner schools and a team of inspirational volunteer mentors. Working closely with schools, you will coordinate and oversee the successful delivery of the charity's in-school programme, ensuring volunteers have the guidance, support and resources they need to make a lasting difference to pupils' lives. Alongside programme coordination, you will help develop volunteers throughout their year of service, supporting their professional development while building strong relationships with schools and key stakeholders. The role is predominantly school-based from Monday to Thursday, with most Fridays spent attending training and development sessions at the Birmingham office or online. What you'll be doing • Lead, coach and develop a team of Volunteer Mentors throughout their year of service. • Build strong partnerships with school leaders and staff. • Ensure high-quality delivery of City Year's school programme. • Support volunteers' wellbeing, engagement and professional development. • Monitor and evaluate programme impact using data and feedback. • Act as the main relationship manager between City Year UK and your partner school. • Work collaboratively with colleagues to continually improve the experience for schools, pupils and volunteers. • Support the delivery of our Leadership Development Programme, helping Volunteer Mentors build the skills, confidence and experience they need for future careers. About You We're keen to hear from candidates who are passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people and enjoy building positive relationships with others. You may come from an education, youth work, volunteering, project coordination or community engagement background, although we're open to a range of experiences as long as you have the right skills and passion. You'll bring • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. • Confidence working with schools, young people and volunteers. • Strong organisation and the ability to juggle competing priorities. • A proactive, positive approach to solving problems. • The ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team. • Good digital skills (Microsoft Office or Google Workspace). • A genuine commitment to improving opportunities for children and young people. Experience of working in, or alongside, schools would be beneficial but is not essential.
