Science TechnicianLocation: Newham, East London Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only Salary: NJC Scale, depending on experience Join Our TeamWe are seeking a dedicated, organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our thriving Science Department at our successful secondary school in the London Borough of Newham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a practical environment and wants to play a key role in supporting high-quality science education. Whether you are an experienced technician or looking to develop your skills in a school setting, we would love to hear from you. The RoleAs our Science Technician, you will work closely with teaching staff to ensure practical science lessons run smoothly and safely. Your responsibilities will include: • Preparing, setting up and clearing away equipment and materials for practical lessons. • Maintaining laboratories, equipment and scientific resources. • Ensuring chemicals and equipment are stored safely and in accordance with health and safety regulations. • Assisting with stock control, ordering and maintaining inventory records. • Supporting teachers with practical demonstrations where appropriate. • Carrying out routine maintenance, cleaning and checking of laboratory equipment. • Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for staff and students. We Are Looking For Someone Who: • Has excellent organisational and time management skills. • Is reliable, proactive and able to work independently. • Has good practical skills and attention to detail. • Has a commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety. • Enjoys working as part of a supportive team. • Has good ICT and communication skills. • Previous experience in a laboratory or school environment is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided for the right candidate.
