KS3 & KS4 English Teacher – SEMH Rural East Grinstead Salary: Paid to Scale Contract: Full-time, Permanent (Term Time Only) Transport: Driver required due to location Start Date: September About the Role Philpots Manor School is a specialist independent SEMH provision set within a unique and nurturing rural environment. We are seeking a passionate, resilient, and dedicated KS3 & KS4 English Teacher to inspire and support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher who is committed to delivering outstanding English education while making a meaningful difference to the lives of young people. The successful candidate will combine high-quality teaching with strong pastoral support, helping students develop confidence, literacy skills, and a love of learning. Key Responsibilities • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment that enables SEMH learners to thrive. • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. • Teach English Language and Literature, adapting lessons to meet the needs of individual learners. • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and wider support staff to maximise student progress and engagement. • Implement effective behaviour management strategies and maintain high expectations of achievement and conduct. • Monitor student progress through assessment, recording, and reporting, adapting teaching where required. • Develop students’ literacy, communication, reading, and writing skills across the curriculum. • Build positive and trusting relationships with students, parents/carers, and colleagues. • Contribute to EHCP reviews, intervention planning, and whole-school development initiatives. • Support the personal, social, and emotional development of all students. What We're Looking For Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 Experience in, or a strong interest in, SEMH and SEN education Knowledge of the English curriculum and GCSE requirements Strong behaviour management and relationship-based teaching skills Ability to deliver creative, engaging, and adaptable lessons Excellent communication and organisational skills A positive, resilient, and collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team Full driving licence and access to transport Why Join Philpots Manor?
