Teaching Assistant (SEMH Support) - Ribble Valley
Start Date: September 2026
Location: Ribble Valley, Lancashire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00am - 3:00pm
Pay Rate: £16.35 per hour
Teaching Assistant Required - KS2 SEMH Support
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a welcoming primary school in the Ribble Valley.
This rewarding role will involve working closely with the pupil on a 1:1 basis, helping them to engage positively in school life while supporting their academic progress, particularly in Maths and Literacy.
The Role
• Providing 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with SEMH needs
• Delivering targeted Maths and Literacy interventions
• Building positive and trusting relationships with the pupil
• Supporting the child's emotional regulation and wellbeing throughout the school day
• Encouraging engagement, confidence and independence
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs and other professionals
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback where required
The Ideal Candidate
• Experience working with children with SEMH, SEND, behavioural or additional needs
• Previous experience within a primary school setting is desirable
• Strong Maths and Literacy skills
• Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
• Ability to build positive relationships and manage challenging situations calmly
• A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential
