SEMH Teaching Assistant
Waltham Forest
£92-£120 per day

We're excited to be working with a charming School in Waltham Forest, who are looking to welcome a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to their supportive team from September 2026.
This is a fantastic full-time, long-term opportunity running until July 2027, making it ideal for experienced SEMH/SEN Learning Support Assistants as well as graduates looking to build a rewarding career in education.
The Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage with learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Providing tailored support to pupils both in and out of the classroom.
• Working 1:1 and with small groups to encourage positive learning and behaviour.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with children to support their emotional wellbeing.
• Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to create a positive learning environment.
• Celebrating every achievement, no matter how big or small.
We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates who:
• Have experience supporting children or young people with SEMH and/or SEN, or
• Are enthusiastic graduates looking to gain valuable school-based experience.
• Are patient, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.
• Have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
• Are passionate about helping children succeed both academically and personally.
