SEMH Teaching Assistant Kirkham, Lancashire Specialist SEMH College Centre Part-time - Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday | Term-time | We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH College Centre in Kirkham for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work 3 days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs while benefiting from a consistent part-time schedule. Key Responsibilities • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs • Support learners to re-engage with education, routines, and emotional regulation • Assist teaching staff with lesson delivery and differentiated activities • Apply positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies • Support students both academically and emotionally • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment Requirements • Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs (schools, colleges, PRUs, care, youth work, or similar settings) • Calm, patient, and resilient approach • Strong communication and relationship-building skills • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team • TA qualification desirable but not essential • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply) What We Offer • Competitive weekly agency pay • Fixed part-time schedule: Tuesday to Thursday • Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant • Access to training and CPD opportunities • Long-term placement with potential for permanent opportunities • Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a specialist SEMH setting APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR VERITAS EDUCATION • All applications are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, professional reference checks, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) in line with our stringent safeguarding policy • Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and all employment breaks must be explained • You must have legal right to work in the UK • You must be willing to attend a registration interview Veritas Education work with a variety of schools covering a wide geographical area.
