Special Support Assistant (SSA) – September Start Maidenhead Area | Long-Term Opportunity with Permanent Prospects Reed Education is delighted to be working in partnership with an outstanding specialist educational setting to recruit a Special Support Assistant (SSA) for a September start. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly regarded special school that supports children and young people aged 2–19 with a wide range of additional needs, including autism spectrum condition (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Physical Disabilities, SEMH needs and other complex learning needs. The Role As a Special Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to help students access learning, build confidence and make meaningful progress both academically and socially. You may support pupils on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, adapting your approach to meet individual learning, communication and behavioural needs. Key duties include: • Supporting students within the classroom and around the school environment. • Encouraging independence and social development. • Assisting with communication strategies and personalised learning activities. • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation. • Supporting pupils with additional learning and physical needs where required. • Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN professionals and families.
