SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Chorley, Lancashire Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary to Permanent (Temp-to-Perm) Working Pattern: 5 days a week (Monday to Friday, Term-Time Only) Start Date: September Salary: £98.89 - £112.89 per day (dependent on experience) About the Role We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic specialist SEN school located in Chorley. This full-time position starts in September and offers a great opportunity for a temp-to-perm transition for the right candidate. You will be working alongside a supportive team of teaching and specialist staff to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Whether delivering 1:1 intervention, facilitating small group learning, or assisting with classroom activities and therapies, you will play a crucial role in empowering young people to achieve their potential in a safe, nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities • Provide 1:1 and small group educational and emotional support to pupils with complex SEN needs. • Assist the class teacher in adapting learning activities and managing dynamic classroom environments. • Support pupils' social, emotional, and communication development, keeping safety and wellbeing at the forefront. • Assist with classroom routine, sensory interventions, and specialized activities (e.g., hydrotherapy or outdoor learning, where applicable). • Provide personal care and assistance with mobility where required (full guidance provided). • Promote independence, resilience, and positive behaviour. Requirements & Person Specification • Experience: Prior experience working with children or young adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in an educational, care, or community setting is essential. • Attributes: Patient, resilient, nurturing, and adaptable with a strong sense of humour. • Qualifications: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable, but transferable experience with SEN is highly valued. • Compliance: Must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one). • Right to Work: Full right to work in the UK.
