SEN Teaching Assistants

We are seeking reliable SEN Teaching Assistants to join a successful secondary Academy in Hackney from September. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and helping them thrive both academically and personally.
The successful candidates will work alongside teachers and the SEN department to provide tailored support for students with a range of additional needs, contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs.
• Support students with their learning across a range of subjects and curriculum areas.
• Assist teachers in adapting learning materials to meet individual student needs.
• Encourage student participation, engagement, and independence within the classroom.
• Support students with additional needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language needs, and Moderate Learning Difficulties.
• Help implement individual learning plans and behaviour support strategies.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and the SEN team.
• Promote positive behaviour and support students' emotional wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, SENCOs, and external professionals.
• Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
• A patient, compassionate, and supportive approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Understanding of a range of Special Educational Needs is beneficial.
• Confidence supporting students both academically and socially.
• Ability to remain calm, resilient, and adaptable in a busy school environment.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
