Job description

Prospero Teaching is working alongside an Ofsted-rated Outstanding secondary school that is seeking a resilient and experienced individual to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a male student in Year 8 with severe Autism (ASD). This role would suit someone who thrives in a specialist SEN environment and has experience supporting children with complex communication, behavioural, and sensory needs. The Role You will work closely with one student throughout the school day, providing consistent support to help them access learning, regulate emotions, and engage positively within the school setting. The student can experience periods of dysregulation and heightened anxiety which may occasionally result in challenging behaviours. Therefore, the successful candidate must remain calm, professional, and consistent while following the school's behaviour support strategies. Key Responsibilities • Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day. • Supporting a student with severe Autism (ASD). • Implementing agreed behaviour and support plans. • Helping the student access lessons and learning opportunities. • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the student. • Managing challenging situations using a calm and consistent approach. • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN professionals, and parents where appropriate. • Completing detailed daily reports on behaviour, progress, and key observations. • Promoting emotional regulation, independence, and engagement. What We're Looking For The successful candidate will: • Have experience supporting children or young people with Autism (ASD). • Be confident working within a 1:1 SEN support role. • Have strong behaviour management skills. • Be resilient, adaptable, and highly patient. • Be able to remain calm under pressure. • Have excellent written communication skills for report writing. • Be committed to providing consistent support and structure. • Be passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning. Working Hours • Full-time position. • Monday to Friday. • Typical school hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm. Eligibility Requirements To be considered for this role, you must: • Hold the Right to Work in the UK. • Be willing to complete Prospero Teaching's registration and compliance process. • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one. • Be able to provide professional references.
