SEN Teaching Assistants Location: Tower Hamlets, London Job Type: Long Term Working Hours: Full-time Start Date: September We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a large secondary school in Tower Hamlets from September. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs and helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment. The successful candidates will work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other support professionals to provide tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language needs, and Learning Difficulties. Day-to-day of the role: • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs. • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons. • Support students both academically and socially throughout the school day. • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies as directed by teaching staff. • Encourage positive behaviour and help students develop confidence and independence. • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and SEN staff. • Support students during lessons, breaktimes, and other school activities where required. • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals to ensure students receive appropriate support. • Uphold safeguarding procedures and contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable. • A patient, caring, and empathetic approach to supporting students. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Understanding of SEN needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language, and Learning Difficulties is advantageous. • Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations. • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
