Head & Neck, Thyroid Surgery There is ample opportunity for the post holder to develop further skills in head and neck surgery. Bradford is an accredited cancer centre in the Yorkshire Cancer Network and serves a patient population of about 1 million for head and neck services. A neck lump clinic is established with over 1000 new referrals seen annually. In addition the bulk of malignant and endocrine thyroid and parathyroid surgery is performed in the ORL-HNS unit at Bradford. Rhinology, Facial Plastics The ORL-HNS unit perform the majority of rhinoplasty surgery for Bradford. In addition there will be opportunity for the post holder to observe facial plastic procedures subject to arrangement with consultants from the Plastic Surgery department at BTHT. There will be ample opportunity to gain experience in rhinology and there are over 200 endoscopic sinus surgery procedures performed annually including frontal sinus surgery. Otology The ORL-HNS unit at BTHT offer a supra-regional cochlear implant service with over 100 implants performed per year. A wide range of otological conditions are seen and over 100 mastoid procedures are performed annually.
