Job description

Senior Geotechnical Engineer Cardiff £40,000 - £55,000 + Benefits An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a respected geotechnical consultancy in Cardiff. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to become an integral part of a small, collaborative team where you will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, build strong client relationships and play a key role in the continued growth of the business. The successful Senior Geotechnical Engineer will lead a wide variety of geotechnical projects across residential, commercial, infrastructure and industrial developments. You will be responsible for designing and managing ground investigations, interpreting geotechnical data and delivering high-quality interpretative and design reports. The role also involves providing technical guidance on foundations, retaining structures, slope stability and earthworks while working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams. Key responsibilities: • Managing geotechnical projects from proposal through to completion. • Designing and specifying intrusive ground investigations. • Producing geotechnical interpretative reports and design recommendations. • Providing advice on foundations, retaining walls, earthworks and ground improvement. • Reviewing technical reports and ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard. • Mentoring junior members of the team. • Attending client meetings and supporting the development of new business opportunities. • Undertaking occasional site visits to oversee ground investigations. Requirements: • Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline. • Strong consultancy experience within geotechnical engineering. • Excellent report writing and ground interpretation skills. • Experience managing projects and liaising directly with clients. • Chartered status or working towards chartership is desirable. • Full UK driving licence.
