Job description
Senior HR Advisor – ER Specialist
Leeds
Hybrid
Financial Services
Are you an experienced HR Advisor who thrives in the thick of employee relations? Do you enjoy being the go-to expert for managers, resolving issues with confidence, pace and professionalism? If you’re looking for a role where you can make a real impact in a respected, growing financial organisation, this could be your next move.
Why This Role Stands Out
You’ll join a high-performing HR team that values expertise, collaboration and genuine partnership with the business. This is a hands-on, operationally focused Senior HR Advisor role — perfect for someone who loves ER, problem-solving and supporting managers through real-time people challenges.
This isn’t a project-heavy or strategic HRBP role. It’s about rolling up your sleeves, owning complex cases, and being a trusted advisor day-to-day. You’ll work closely with the HR Manager and play a key role in delivering high-quality, pragmatic HR support across the organisation.
Hybrid working gives you the flexibility you need, while still being connected to a supportive HR function that invests in your development.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be the first point of contact for managers across the business, providing expert guidance on a wide range of people matters, including:
• Managing complex ER cases end-to-end — disciplinary, grievance, performance, capability, attendance and conduct
• Applying strong ACAS knowledge, particularly around complex grievance handling
• Supporting restructures, organisational change and consultation processes
• Coaching managers to build their confidence and capability in handling people issues
• Supporting recruitment activity to ensure timely and effective hiring
• Leading on key HR processes such as performance reviews, salary reviews and probation management
• Delivering inductions, exit interviews and training sessions
• Acting as a subject matter expert for the HRIS (ideally Workday), ensuring accurate and timely updates
• Mentoring junior HR colleagues and sharing best practice
• Using people data and trends to support improvements and decision-making
• Providing pragmatic, commercially aware HR advice that supports business goals
This is a varied, fast-paced role where no two days look the same — ideal for someone who enjoys being at the heart of operational HR.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who is confident, credible and comfortable working in a dynamic, commercially driven environment. You’ll need:
• Proven experience managing complex and sensitive ER cases independently
• Strong generalist HR experience across recruitment, performance, attendance, disciplinary and grievance
• CIPD Level 5
• Excellent working knowledge of employment law
• Strong influencing, coaching and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and confidently at all levels
• A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with sound judgement
• High levels of resilience, initiative and accountability
• Experience using HR systems
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and make effective decisions under pressure
Why Apply
• A respected financial services organisation with a strong people culture
• A supportive HR team that values expertise and continuous development
• A role where your ER capability will genuinely make a difference
• Hybrid working and a collaborative environment
• Opportunities to grow, stretch and develop your HR career
