Senior Matron Educator - Clinical, Governance & Operational Management

The post holder will be responsible for working with key leads within the ODN, health boards and trusts to deliver and maintain a robust education and training plan whilst ensuring alignment to the SWTN policies and clinical guidelines alongside supporting and promoting excellent standards of clinical practice and quality of patient care.The SWTN Nurse Educator will work in partnership with the SWTN Governance Clinical Lead to lead, manage, and deliver clinical governance activity across the South Wales Trauma Network (SWTN). The post holder will play a key role in supporting the transformation of trauma care across the region by ensuring a robust, consistent, and highquality approach to clinical governance in line with national and network standards. The role requires close collaboration with key stakeholders across the Operational Delivery Network (ODN), health boards, and partner organisations to support assurance, continuous improvement, and excellent standards of patient care. The successful candidate will provide direct leadership to ensure staff across the SWTN are able to implement the nursing and quality strategy and person-centred approaches to care, in order to deliver a service that prioritises the care needs of patients and their families/carers to enable a positive experience. The post holder is expected to work with autonomy to provide highly specialised professional nursing advice to colleagues to ensure high standards of direct care delivery. The role also involves providing professional and clinical leadership, acting as a visible and approachable resource for staff across the network. You will model compassionate, person-centred care, support workforce development, and uphold the highest professional standards, including equality, diversity, inclusion, and information governance. Education and development are central to the post. You will lead on the design and delivery of specialist training and learning programmes, working with partners across NHS Wales and education providers to build capability, support career development, and ensure the workforce is skilled to meet the needs of major trauma patients. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential. You will engage effectively with multidisciplinary teams, partner organisations, and patient groups, supporting collaboration, consultation, and shared decision-making across the network.
