Interpret and dispense inpatient, outpatient and
discharge prescriptions in accordance with department procedures This will
include supply for inpatients, outpatients and TTOS and include oral cytotoxic
prescriptions and Controlled Drugs (CD) prescriptions and requisitions.
Complete all relevant paperwork for dispensing
including IVIG paperwork and unlicensed records as needed.
Ensure any medication required for the discharge
process is available at the point of entry to the dispensing process.
Ensure prescribed items are put on order when
insufficient supply is made and once received from the supplier ensure owings
are completed in a timely manner with support from the Lead and Senior Pharmacy
Technicians for Dispensary.
To help the co-ordination and assembly of missed
doses and returning these to the ward for checks and distribution to the
appropriate area to prevent any delays in medications being available.
Ensure that the tracker is checked routinely to
ensure patient flow is maintained and any delays are escalated as needed
Assist in the receipt and issue of controlled
drugs and stationery including FP10S in accordance with legal and departmental
procedures.
Undertake reception duties to include greeting
patients/staff at hatch
Taking in of prescriptions and requisitions and
booking work onto the pharmacy tracker system assessing the urgency of requests
and acting accordingly and advising on wait times.
Assess patient eligibility to pay prescription
fees and collect prescription charge using card machine or identify the reason
for free prescriptions
Undertake daily replenishment of the emergency
drug cupboard issuing and replacing stock that has been removed and ensuring
that all necessary paperwork has been completed.
File all dispensary generated paperwork
including orders and prescriptions in line with the legal requirements for the
retention of pharmaceutical records.
Answering of telephone queries relevant to role.
