Senior Production Controller/Production Controller – 2-3 Month Contract Are you a highly organised, detail-focused production professional with a passion for great children’s books? We’re seeking a Freelance Senior/Production Controller to join a lovely children’s publisher and support the production team across the full children’s list on a short-term contract starting in August. You’ll take responsibility for titles across the production pipeline, supporting delivery through frontlist, backlist, and co-editions/competitions, ensuring timely commercial delivery of a range of award-winning titles—all while maintaining the highest production standards. • Managing production schedules and title progress across frontlist and backlist • Overseeing delivery for a range of formats and projects, including co-editions • Supporting coordination of titles through testing stages and production checkpoints • Ensuring quality and standards are maintained throughout the production process • Liaising with internal teams and global suppliers to keep delivery on track • Strong physical book production experience • A great eye for detail and exceptional organisation • Creative, proactive mindset, with the ability to manage multiple priorities • Experience and/or working knowledge of safety testing and processes is desirable • Some knowledge of colour pre-press would be a plus • Experience related to co-editions and/or CO production is beneficial • Safety testing experience is not essential—we’re open to the right person with strong production fundamentals • Join a friendly, mission-led children’s publisher • Make a real impact across the list in a relatively short, focused contract • Work autonomously with a supportive internal team and global partners Contract details • Start: August • Duration: ~2–3 months • Hours: Full-time or 4 days/week • Level: Senior Controller / Controller (based on experience) If you’re interested, please share your CV (and your availability for August), along with whether you’re looking for 4 days or full-time.
