Job description

Your new company Hays are working in partnership with a well-established, family-owned main contractor with an excellent reputation across London and the South East. The business delivers a wide range of refurbishment, retrofit, fire safety, repairs and maintenance services for public sector and social housing clients working across numerous framework contracts as well as several larger private projects. With over 20 live schemes and a growing orderbook, they are thriving in a competitive market and continue to grow. Due to continued growth within their Repairs & Maintenance division, they now seek an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of responsive repairs, planned maintenance and refurbishment contracts across the Central and south London region. Your new role Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful commercial management of maintenance contracts from initial award through to final account. You will be working as part of a larger surveying team of 5 but looking after your own contracts. Key responsibilities include - Managing the commercial performance of repairs and maintenance contracts.- Producing valuations, applications for payment, variations and final accounts.- Monitoring costs, budgets and profitability across multiple workstream's.- Procuring and managing subcontractor packages.- Reviewing subcontractor payments and agreeing final accounts.- Producing CVRs, forecasts and monthly commercial reports.- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.- Working closely with operational teams to maximise contract performance and margin.- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders. What you'll need to succeed We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a proven background in social housing, repairs and maintenance, planned works, refurbishment or property services. The successful candidate will possess strong commercial and contractual knowledge, with experience in preparing CVRs, forecasts, valuations and final accounts. A sound understanding of JCT and/or NEC contracts is essential, alongside excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills. You will be capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, working to strict deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and commercial performance. A Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent is preferred.
