We're recruiting for a Senior Underwriter focused on renewals to join a leading UK insurer's Manchester team, taking strategic ownership of portfolio performance while developing the next generation of underwriting talent. This is a high-impact position combining hands-on underwriting with strategic oversight. You'll manage complex renewal cases, lead senior-level broker discussions, and shape how the regional team approaches portfolio management. Key Responsibilities • Manage renewal portfolios with full decision-making authority, assessing risk complexity and determining pricing and terms while monitoring performance against profitability targets • Build and strengthen broker partnerships through regular engagement and strategic negotiations, positioning yourself as the trusted advisor for key accounts • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters, supporting their development through coaching, training delivery, and knowledge sharing • Drive portfolio strategy through data analysis and trend identification, collaborating with senior leadership to shape market positioning and competitive approach Qualifications • Substantial P&L underwriting experience in commercial or mid-market environments, with proven track record managing complex portfolios profitably • Strong relationship-building and negotiation capability, combined with confidence leading senior-level trading discussions with sophisticated brokers • Demonstrated mentoring or team development experience; solid understanding of FCA compliance and regulatory governance frameworks Eames Consulting is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
