Hours:
Weekdays: 7.30am - 5.00 pm Monday to Friday with a 10 minute paid morning break and a ¾ hour unpaid lunch break
Saturdays: 7:30am – 12:00noon.
However, 6 paid concessionary Saturdays off are given in a year. An additional 6 unpaid Saturdays off are also offered – which you may opt in or out of as you wish.

Hale & Co. (Drybrook) Ltd is an independent, family-run Timber & Builders’ Merchants, established for many years with an excellent reputation.
As a member of the Customer Service team, you will be the first point of contact for many of our clients. You will be based in our Main Shop (although you may be required to work in other departments from time to time), where we stock our decorating supplies, gardening & construction tools, hardware, workwear, electrical and cleaning materials and from where we operate our paint mixing and key cutting services. Like all our members of staff, you will be an ambassador for Hale & Co.
In the Shop, you will work as part of a small team serving trade and retail customers. You will be required to promote, improve and increase profitable sales for the Company through excellent customer service. You will also be involved in stock merchandising, stock checks and stock ordering and will be required to improve and maintain good product knowledge of all products stocked and displayed.
The main activities of this job role are:
Counter Sales
• Greeting and serving customers quickly and efficiently
• Identifying customers' requirements, advising on product use, selling the benefits, overcoming objections & making sales
• Proactively maximising margin
• Proactively recommending add on sales and promoting special offers
• Processing orders and sales on our computer system
Stock Control
• Monitoring stock levels
• Ordering stock within the Company's timescale criteria, raising Purchase Orders
• Receiving stock on to the computer system
• Putting stock away
• Liaising with the Purchase Ledger Team to resolve queries
Merchandising
• Ensuring shelf labelling is up to date
• Maintaining stock displays
• Rotating stock
Health and Safety
• Ensuring that rubbish is cleared away daily and not allowed to accumulate
• Ensuring all floors and passageways are free from obstruction
• Complying with health and safety procedures at all times
• Reporting any unlawful behaviour to the Management Team
General
• Maintaining change levels in the till
• Maintaining printer and card machine paper
• Picking goods for delivery
• Taking an active part in the shop opening and closing procedures
You will ideally have a working knowledge of building materials, although this is not essential. You will be customer-focused, motivated, willing to work under instruction as part of a team and be able to use your own initiative to resolve customer queries.
