Job description

Nu Staff are recruiting for Skilled Composite Aircraft Fitters to join a leading aerospace manufacturing business based at Western Approach, Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy aircraft assembly environment on a 6-month rolling contract with genuine temp to perm opportunities and structured training on a 12/7 day shift pattern. As a Skilled Fitter, you'll assemble and trim composite and metallic aircraft main wing assemblies and sub-assemblies from detail parts, using appropriate assembly techniques, tools and fixtures in line with design and engineering requirements. Hours of Work 12/7 Shift (7 Day Fort Days) 11.5 hour days, average 40.25 hour week, all days 6:00AM – 6:00PM • Week 1 – Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun • Week 2 – Wed, Thurs Pay Rates Training Period • £18.43 per hour on core days (2–12 weeks, subject to experience) Shift Rate • £23.59 per hour PAYE • £27.65 per hour weekday overtime • £36.86 per hour weekend overtime Key Responsibilities • Assemble and trim composite and metallic aircraft components • Drilling, reaming and countersinking of composite and metallic components • Set aircraft components in calibrated build jigs • Deburring and under-head radius of aircraft components and assemblies • Fettling using approved and calibrated setting tools • Use nut runners and pre-set torque guns for bolting • Participate fully in local continuous improvement activities • Work in line with Health & Safety site requirements Requirements • Apprenticeship (industry related) or minimum Level 3 City & Guilds/NVQ essential • Certificates must be sent with CV • Ability to assemble and trim composite and ancillary materials to close tolerances • Good hand skills and coordination • Understanding of aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems • Ability to operate CNC machines and processes as required • Self-motivated team player with good communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work both alone and in small teams • Working knowledge of IT systems including SAP and Microsoft packages • Candidates must attend and pass a practical trade test on site (approx. 2 hours) to be offered a role Benefits • Temp to perm opportunities available • Structured training period • Opportunity to gain valuable experience on major aircraft programmes • Career progression within a leading aerospace manufacturer Location Western Approach, Bristol – must be able to commute reliably Click apply and a member of the Nu Staff team will be in touch.
