Job Description Job Title: Skin Cancer Clinic Assistant Department: OCDS Reporting to Deputy Practice Manager - DHC Role Purpose The Skin Cancer Clinic Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to ensure the efficient delivery of high-quality skin cancer services. Working closely with clinicians, the role is responsible for preparing treatment rooms, assisting during procedures, maintaining infection control and stock management, providing patient education and information, and supporting the day-to-day operation of the clinic. The position plays a key role in delivering safe, compassionate, and patient-centred care while contributing to the smooth and effective running of the service. This role is varied and will have a wide scope; adaptability and flexibility are key. Key Responsibilities Preparing treatment rooms and ensuring clinical areas are clean and well-stocked Assisting clinicians during skin examinations and minor procedures Maintaining infection control standards Perform regular clinic stock checks and maintain stock rotation to prevent waste. Providing patients with appropriate information sheets and post-procedure guidance Supporting overall clinic operations as required General Be responsible for maintaining Health and Safety standards within the business, in line with the Health and Safety policy To ensure ongoing compliance with CQC essential standards To ensure compliance with all GDPR and data security policies Adhere to all business protocols and SOPs To comply with the OCDS HR policies Always ensure effective and professional communications Always ensure a high standard of personal presentation To take an active part in the performance review system Complete relevant (mandatory) training and ensure agreed deadlines are met Attend internal and external meetings as required To support sustainability practices and recognise the shared responsibility of carrying out duties in a resource efficient way Demonstrate due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults. Person Specification Essential/Desirable Qualifications Qualification as Registered Nurse, or Assistant in Nursing. • CPR certification or willingness to obtain. • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths Knowledge and Experience Experience of working in a healthcare environment Experience in dermatology, skin cancer, general practice, or a procedural/surgical environment. Experience with stock management and medical consumables. Experience of providing administration support Demonstrated knowledge of infection prevention and control principles. Proficiency in computer systems and electronic medical records.
