Job description

Are you a skilled and passionate Social Worker ready to be the frontline response for children and families? Yes? Randstad are recruiting for a Qualified Social Worker to join Midlothian Council's Children's and Families Service. This is a full time role offering a fantastic competitive pay rate. Benefits: • Hybrid working • Competitive rates of pay • Mileage reimbursement • Supervision • Weekly pay • One committed and dedicated point of contact • An unlimited referrals incentive, giving you a £300 voucher for anyone you refer to us (T&Cs apply) • A full range of free training available • Access to 100s of discounts through the Happi App • Free healthcare, medical and financial advice available Responsibilities: • Conducting comprehensive assessments of the needs of children, young people, and their families/carers. • Developing, implementing, and reviewing detailed Care Plans that outline activities and interventions designed to meet identified needs, promote safety, and improve outcomes for the child. • Providing a range of individual, family, and group work services, including promoting positive parenting, focusing on social inclusion, and providing advice and guidance on issues like risk, anti-social behaviour, and welfare concerns. • Carrying out statutory duties. • Preparing a range of statutory and professional reports for various bodies. • Ensuring all work related to clients and groups is accurately and promptly recorded on the department's client information system (e.g., Carefirst). • Attending the Children's Hearing system or Court as necessary to present reports and give evidence. • Working collaboratively and in partnership with a wide range of professionals and external agencies. • For children who are 'Looked After' (in care), the role involves fulfilling the responsibilities of Corporate Parenting, which means ensuring the child's needs are prioritised, and working to achieve the same positive outcomes any good parent would want. • Advocating on behalf of children and families to secure necessary resources and challenge social injustice, discrimination, and disadvantage. • Identifying and managing risk effectively in work with children and families, including risks associated with factors like addiction, mental health, and domestic abuse. • Utilising a range of interventions and methodologies, such as attachment theory, systemic support, relationship-based approaches, motivational interviewing techniques, and understanding the impact of trauma. • Participating fully in professional supervision and making use of all available training opportunities for continuous professional development.
