Job description

Are you an experienced Design Engineer with strong SolidWorks, CAD/CAM and fabrication knowledge? We are recruiting on behalf of a growing engineering and manufacturing business seeking a talented engineer to join their design team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of bespoke projects from concept through to manufacture, collaborating closely with production, fabrication and project teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. As a SolidWorks Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing fabricated components, assemblies and manufacturing solutions using SolidWorks and CAD/CAM software. You will play a key role in supporting production processes, improving designs for manufacture, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and accurately. Roles & Responsibilities • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks. • Develop CAD/CAM programs for CNC machining and fabrication processes. • Design sheet metal, welded and fabricated components and assemblies. • Produce accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation. • Liaise with fabrication, machining and production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable. • Support continuous improvement initiatives and design optimisation. • Conduct design reviews and resolve engineering issues during production. • Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to understand project requirements. • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and quality procedures. Essential • Proven experience as a Design Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer or similar. • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks. • Strong CAD/CAM programming experience. • Knowledge of fabrication, welding and sheet metal manufacturing processes. • Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings. • Understanding of CNC machining principles and manufacturing techniques. • Ability to interpret engineering specifications and technical requirements. • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. • HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
